- Non-academic curriculum comprising:
- Specialised courses such as gymnastics, IT skills, daily living skills, etc.
- Self-organisation routines. (e.g. managing bag, time management, etc.)
- Self-regulation and work habits.
- Planned integration activities with general education schools.
Pathlight's Primary 1 Programme
The minimum age of admission is 7 years old. Applicants who have been assessed to have the ability to access the national curriculum in a group learning environment will be offered a placement in one of our two Primary 1 programmes.
Pathlight's Primary 1 Standard Programme
Applicants who present with adequate literacy and numeracy skills, as well as the ability to follow the learning pace of a group, will be offered a placement in our Primary 1 Standard Programme.
Academic Curriculum
- Follows the MOE national curriculum (except NO Mother Tongue Language), leading to PSLE qualifications.
- The academic content is completed at the same pace as in a general education school.
Non-Academic Curriculum
- Specialised courses such as gymnastics, IT skills, daily living skills, etc.
- Self-organisation routines (e.g. managing bag, time management, etc.)
- Self-regulation and work habits
Pathlight's Primary 1 Foundation Programme
Applicants whose learning profiles indicate that additional scaffolding may be required to access the language demands of the national curriculum or they require a longer runway to familiarise themselves with group learning routines will be offered our Primary 1 Foundation Programme.
The Primary 1 Foundation Programme provides the same national curriculum that is taught in Singapore's general education schools:
- Follows the MOE national academic curriculum (except NO Mother Tongue Language), leading to PSLE qualifications.
- Students in this programme will complete Primary 1 & 2 of the national curriculum over 3 years.
- This allows for:
- More EXPLICIT and INTENTIONAL teaching of content vocabulary;
- STRUCTURED SCAFFOLDING through the breakdown of content into bite-sized portions for easier learning;
- More time for REPEATED PRACTICE to reinforce understanding and mastery of foundational skills;
- More opportunities to strengthen and develop the ability to learn at the pace of a group.
