Exploring Ngee Ann and Singapore Polytechnics

Exploring Ngee Ann and Singapore Polytechnics

Secondary 3 Express and Normal Academic Pathlighters visited Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic in May and got a preview of life post Pathlight. Guided by friendly student ambassadors, Pathlighters toured both campuses and learned about the courses offered, as well as, the various facilities available on campus.

At Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Film and Media, our students got to be DJs for a day and did interview recordings at the Polytechnic’s in-house radio station – Radio Heatwave. They also got to put their science knowledge into use as they programmed robots and built toy model cars at the School of Engineering.

At Singapore Polytechnic, students visited 3 faculties, the Media and Design Department, the Perfumery & Cosmetic Science Centre and Aero Hub. Highlights included witnessing the making of visual effects, exploring a perfumery laboratory and getting up close with different aircrafts. They also had the opportunity to hear from two Pathlight alumni who are now studying at Singapore Polytechnic, about their experience and how they adapted to the new learning environment.

The 2 days of exploration gave Pathlighters a taste of the various courses they could explore after they graduate from Pathlight and many expressed their interest in enrolling into the Polytechnics. Whatever their final decisions may be, we hope that Pathlighters hopes and dreams do come true!
