From 7 to 9 November 2017, Secondary 1 students visited the Science Centre to understand the correlation between health and nutrition.
Besides meal planning and the importance of a balanced diet, the students learnt about the different nutrients and their functions. They also studied the different food groups and learnt how to reduce the risk of diet-related diseases. They then had the opportunity to apply their newly-acquired skills to making a healthy muesli bar.
After the workshop, the students explored the Digital Food Exhibition, where they learned how tastes and flavours have evolved, and how they can be manipulated using digital technology.
This enriching Learning Journey may just have inspired some of Singapore’s future chefs and nutritionists!
