Students from Primary 3 to 5 and Vocational Track went on their Term 3 outing on 28 & 30 July 2015. They watched a puppetry performance: Samsui Women: One Brick at a Time at the Esplanade Theatre Studio. This outing was part of school’s Project One focus to develop students holistically in the following 5 areas: Moral, Cognition, Physical, Social Emotional and Aesthetics.
The play gave them a peek into Singapore’s history to understand and appreciate the sacrifices of the pioneer generation. It also allowed them to reflect on values such as resilience, dedication and sense of duty towards our country that the Samsui women of yesteryears lived by.
The show was followed by a session of educational explanation and question and answer time organised by Esplanade. Through the play, students also learned to appreciate puppetry as a storytelling tool.
