28 students from the Secondary 4 cohort attended the Workshop titled "Shake, Rattle & Roll" at the Singapore Science Centre as part of their post-exam activities. They worked in small groups to construct a model building structure, then subject it to various forces to test its stability! This fun, hands-on investigation required them to think about the relationship between friction, forces and balance, and how they could apply these concepts to make structures more stable.
After the workshop, they visited an exhibition area and had the chance to compare their models with real-life structures that can withstand extreme forces such as earthquakes.
Through these activities, the students were exposed to the use of knowledge on concepts such as Forces, Friction and Centre of Gravity. They also learnt to be creative and innovative when working with their teammates.
