Our Secondary 2 students had the opportunity to go on a Learning Journey to IKEA Tampines as part of their Design & Technology curriculum. While at IKEA, the students split into groups for their research activity which included drawing inspiration from the various product designs at the lamp section. They also learnt to appreciate the aesthetics and functionality of different lamp designs. Through the session, they drew sketches for ideas that they have for the unit of Lighting.
The Learning Journey ended on a high note as students enjoyed simple refreshments from the IKEA Cafeteria and mingled among themselves, forging stronger bonds. This trip not only allowed the students to gather ideas from an authentic environment, it also provided them with an opportunity to practise life skills pertaining to outdoor travel.
