Values in Action: Pathlighters Join the Fight Against Hunger and Poverty

One of the activities that Pathlight held during Education Week in November 2017 was a food donation drive for the non-profit organisation, The Food Bank Singapore. In the lead-up to this “Values in Action” event, two Lower Secondary Values Champions and National Education Ambassadors conducted a sharing session for their fellow schoolmates, and shared on issues such as food wastage and poverty in Singapore.

Ahead of the food donation drive, all Secondary School Pathlighters were encouraged to donate at least one excess food item from home. 11 Secondary Values champions and National Education Ambassadors subsequently helped to check, sort and pack the donated items into cartons. The Food Bank Singapore also visited Pathlight to share about their mission, vision and programmes to our students.

On 7 November, a group of Secondary 3 students headed to The Food Bank Singapore to deliver all the food items collected during the donation drive. They also volunteered their time to do data entry for all the donated items.

Through this meaningful series of activities, participating students truly put the value of “Making Conscious Good Choices for Physical Health, Emotional and Mental Well-being” in action.
